ABOUT THE COMMITTEE
INTERPOL's main goal is to help governments and their police to make the world a safer place.
International Criminal Police Organization is an inter-governmental organization with 195 member states across the world. Its headquarters are in Lyon, France. The organization enables the exchange and access to data on crimes and criminals. It also offers a range of technical and operational support.
INTERPOL's supreme governing body - The General Assembly - will be simulated at MUNLawS 2022. The Assembly comes together annually to vote on activities and policy. Comprising of representatives from each of the member states, this body determines the principles and measures of the Organization, reviews and approves the program of activities and financial policy for the coming year. Each year, The General Assembly also discusses the major crime trends and security threats facing the world. At the end of each session, the Assembly adopts a resolution, and each member state has one vote.
THE INTERPOL CHAIRS
Eleni is a 3rd year undergraduate student of Law at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She is the co-founder and the president of her university's MUN club, as well as the director of her school's environmental team. She is a proud feminist and an activist and has a definite interest in human rights and international relations. Regarding her MUN life, she has participated in many conferences both in Greece and abroad. MUNLAWS will be her first chairing experience. She is anxiously waiting to meet all the delegates in the beautiful city of Ljubljana! Fun fact about her: she can see your future by reading your cup of coffee!
Maja is 20 years old and studies Law at the Faculty of Law, University of Ljubljana. She is interested in international law, diplomacy and international relations. In her free time, she loves to travel, experience new things and spend time with her friends. She has been a part of Model United Nations conferences in Ptuj, Slovenia and Cividale del Friuli, Italy. She has organized one herself at her local grammar school in Ljubljana. She is looking forward to meeting you and to a lot of interesting debates.
